A trigger point injection is an outpatient procedure to help reduce or relieve the pain of trigger points, small, tender knots that form in muscles or in the fascia (the soft, stretchy connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs). The injection consists of an anesthetic mixture that causes the trigger point to relax and help relieve pain.
